Tripoli, 24 November 2013:
Speaking at last night’s late press conference, Head of the “Law 27” Committee and Electricity . . .[restrict]Minister, Ali Muherieg, confirmed that since last Monday five main militia bases had been handed over to the state: Maetiga base, Fallah base, Yarmouk base, the Islamic Call Society base and the 27 KM base.
He explained that now his Committee will complete its handover reports of these sites. The Minister explained that NGOs were welcomed to independently verify the handover of civilian sites, such as the Islamic Call Society site. However, he echoed his PM’s call that civilians should stay away from military sites, which would be monitored by the Chief of Staffs.
Minister Muherieg admitted that “there are tens of sites that we have not officially received yet in Greater Tripoli”, implying that militias were awaiting the government to takeover sites. [/restrict]
