Tripoli, 28 November 2013:
The first stone of the new National Oil Corporation (NOC) complex in Benghazi will be laid . . .[restrict]in December on Independence Day, Prime Minister Ali Zeidan said yesterday.
The ceremony, which a number of ministers and members of the General National Congress (GNC) will attend, is part of the 24 December celebrations in Al-Khalsa Square. The event will have special meaning because the square was where independence from the Italian colonial rule was declared, in 1951.
Zeidan announced in May this year that NOC would move to Benghazi. Tripoli-based NOC staff, however, are known to be deeply opposed to the move.
