Sirte, 4 November 2013:
Some 150 Egyptians demonstrated outside the local council office in Sirte today following the reported . . .[restrict]murder in the town last night of one of their compatriots. They said he had been shot by local hoodlums after an argument descended into a brawl.
This was not the first time, they claimed, that Egyptians had been targeted by local gangs. Others had been shot at and many had been regularly robbed. No one, however, was interested in their situation or looking after their interests, they declared.
As elsewhere in Libya, Egyptians are the largest foreign community in Sirte. [/restrict]
