The constantly changing pattern of risks in ICT and the no-less constant effort to combat and negate them, was a key topic on the first day of the first Libyan CyberSecurity conference held in Tripoli.
The three-day event, sponsored by the government’s National Information Security and Safety Authority, which opened today at the Corinthia Hotel, began by looking at firewalls and prophylactics, then moved on to consider the advantages and challenges of using open source software.
Tomorrow the meeting is to consider big data and its security, as well as protecting users of e-government sites. There will be contributions from Microsoft, Hewlett-Packard, IBM and PriceWaterhouseCoopers. The conference ends on Thursday with a survey of the legal environment around data protection and theft, and will analyse the returns that businesses can expect on their investment in increased security.
