Tripoli, 2 July 2013:
Earlier today the Libya Herald published an article in which we stated that the whereabouts of Prime Minister . . .[restrict]Zeidan were unknown. We said that he had not appeared as scheduled at an international Gas Conference in Moscow but was thought to have left Germany, which he had been visiting, and returned to Tripoli. We also wrote that we had been unable to contact Zeidan’s office overnight and this morning to verify this.
In fact, we had been told last night that the prime minister was indeed back in Tripoli where he has been working at his office, conducting meetings, all day. However, due to a misunderstanding, this fact did not inform the published story. We, of course, deeply regret the error. It is the policy of the Libya Herald to go considerable lengths to check our stories, and we have often decided not to publish something, simply because that verification was not available.
