Tripoli, 3 July 2013:
New GNC president, Nuri Abu Sahmain was today congratulated by British Foreign Secretary William Hague on his election.
Sahmain was given a letter from Hague by the British embassy deputy head of mission, Andrew Allen on a visit to the GNC this afternoon.
Allen explained that UK government remained ready to provide security support for Libya in the form of outside training. He however refuted a report in the British media that London was prepared to send troops to Libya to help train units here.
He also said that the UK was anxious to support all of Libya in rebuilding institutions. For a while the two men discussed the importance of the congress and the government working well together. [/restrict]
