The United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) has . . .[restrict]issued an urgent alert that a Facebook Page that claims to be from the UN is a fraud.
The page introduces itself as “Security Council/Libya Branch/The Office of Fighting Crime”, claims to be that of a major organ of the United Nations and uses the UN logo.
“The content of this Facebook Page which it attributes to the United Nations is fabricated and the reports it carries are totally baseless and unfounded”, said an UNSMIL statement today.
It urged the media to contact UNSMIL’s Public Information and Communication Office in Tripoli to verify news reports relating to the United Nations in Libya. [/restrict]
