Tripoli, 24 April 2013:
The Libyan government is offering France a new embassy building to replace the one destroyed in yesterday’s terrorist . . .[restrict]car-bomb blast.
The offer, according to government sources, was made by Prime Minister Ali Zeidan. A response was awaited from the French, the source said.
However, French sources, who confirm the offer, say that they are concerned that it will take too long to materialise. They also say that given the threat as a result of the Mali intervention, the accommodation they require has to be far more secure than the destroyed embassy.
Any new premises are likely to attract serious concern from neighbours if in a residential area. [/restrict]
