The Libyan Deputy Prime Minister, Awad Barasi, honoured a number of Libya sports personalities on Wednesday at a . . .[restrict]ceremony in Dubai.
The sportsmen had represented Libya at regional and international events held in the UAE.
Those honoured were:
- Fathi Mohamed Egziama, racehorse owner, owner of Russian Rock which won Jebel Ali Sprint and Treble Jig, winner of both the Jebel Ali Stakes and Jebel Ali Mile;
- Abdul Hakim Abu Shkewat, racehorse owner;
- Khairi Khalifa, silver medalist in the Abu Dhabi International Jiu-Jitsu Championship, April 2013.
- Libyan Desert Club Team, which took part in the Abu Dhabi Desert Challenge this month, representing Libya for the first time since the revolution.
Barasi was accompanied by the Libyan Ambassador to the UAE, Arif Ali Nayed. A statement on the website of the Libyan Embassy in the UAE said the sportsmen represented Libyans in the best way through the excellence of their performance and the results achieved. [/restrict]
