The Justice and Judicial Affairs Committee of the General National Congress met on Wednesday to discuss the appointment . . .[restrict]of a new Attorney General and a new Chief Justice. The posts are currently filled by Abdulaziz Al-Hasadi and Kamal Bashir Al-Dahan respectively. (A new military prosecutor, Ramadan Mohamed Zarouq, was recently appointed by the Ministry of Defence and was sworn in office earlier this week.)
The committee also looked at the draft law criminalising torture and the illegal seizing and holding of people as well as at a transitional Justice Bill. [/restrict]
