Checkpoint guards injured in Sirte shooting

Tripoli, 25 January 2013:

Qadaffi supporters in Sirte have been blamed for a shooting last night that left two checkpoint guards seriously . . .[restrict]wounded.

The two men, named as Tahir Alforta and Amer Ali Ajaj both from Qasr Ben Gashir near Tripoli airport, were flown to Mitiga airbase and from them to Turkey in air ambulance for treatment.

The brigade which they serve with comes from Qasr Ben Gashir. According to reports from there, they were part of a detachment at the Sirte checkpoint when a group of 14 men arrived and started shooting at them. According to another member of the detachment, it is known who carried out the attack and that support is being awaited from Tripoli to arrest the culprits. [/restrict]
