Tripoli, 4 December:
Interior Minister Ashour Sulaiman Shuwail has won his case against an Integrity Commission decision disbarring him from office on . . .[restrict]appeal.
The announcement was made yesterday, with Shuwail promptly assuming office and making a series of announcement in that capacity, including a pledge to prioritise development of the police force.
Within hours, however, it was rumoured that the Integrity Commission was planning to lodge its own appeal against the ruling, which could still see Shuwail disbarred if successful.
Shuwail is widely popular in eastern Libya, and protests were recently held in Beida demanding that he be reinstated.
