Tripoli, 7 October:
The speaker of the Iranian parliament, Ali Larijani thanked the Libyan government on Sunday for its efforts in ensuring the release . . .[restrict]of the seven members of the Iranian Red Crescent delegation
who were kidnapped in Benghazi at the end of July.
The seven arrived back in Tehran earlier today following what Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi had called “intensive contacts and talks” between Iran on the one side and Libyan officials and Benghazi local council officers on the other.
There has still been no information about who kidnapped the Iranians, although militant Islamists are suspected of involvement.
