Derna, 6 September:
A member of the security services was shot by unknown assailants in the eastern town of Derna on Tuesday, . . .[restrict]and is now in a critical condition in hospital.
The man has been named locally as Marr’ei Medhei.
Medhei was reportedly hit with two bullets by the assailants, who subsequently fled the scene. He was taken to hospital at around midnight on Tuesday.
Residents in Derna have said that Marr’ei disappeared from the city following the outbreak of the revolution, but returned subsequently to resume a normal life.
Nothing more is known about the man or the reasons for the attempt on his life at this stage. [/restrict]
