Tripoli, 2 August:
Clashes which broke out on Tuesday in Abu Isa, which is between Zawia and Sorman, were finally brought to . . .[restrict]an end at sundown yesterday, Wednesday, following the intervention of Libya Shield Forces under Major General Sheikh Mohammed Kilani, supported by Zawia brigadesmen.
A military source confirmed that there is now peace in the area.
During the two days of fighting, which was at times intensive, at least two people were reported killed and five injured. Earlier reports said that four had been killed but there has been no confirmation of the figure.
The fighting was over possession of a number of vehicles that had been “liberated” during the revolution. It started with gangs using small arms and Kalashnikovs but escalated to RPGs another heavy artillery. [/restrict]
