Tripoli, 30 May:

The Third Deputy Prime Minister,  Haramain Mohammed al-Haramain, has visited the south of the country to assess the damage . . .[restrict]caused by recent heavy rains. The government has also sent emergency food aid to the victims.

On Monday, unexpected heavy rains caused major flooding in the oasis town of Tajarhi, in southern desert region of Qatrun.

Yesterday, the Libya Herald reported that the rains had damaged or destroyed several homes, forcing residents to sleep outdoors, but that nobody had been killed. [/restrict]
