Tripoli, 15 May:
A delegation of some 50 Belgian companies will arrive in Tripoli this weekend to participate in an economic and . . .[restrict]trade encounter at the Corinthia Hotel. The mission, organised by Flanders Investment and Trade, will coincide with the Libya Build fair, and will be in Libya from 18-21 May.
The organisers have announced that various sectors including construction, healthcare, IT, oil and gas will be represented. In recent months, Belgium has taken an active interest in Libya, with the Minister-President from the Flanders region leading a delegation last December, and Belgian Vice-Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Didier Reynders, leading a second in February.
High-level government figures, amongst them representatives from the Ministries of Industry and Planning, along with other prominent Libyan and Belgian businessmen, are also expected to attend. The organisers have said that they hope for this visit to lead to further collaboration between Belgium and Libya in business and economic affairs going forwards.
