Brussels, March 31: Belgium is to treat 120 former revolutionaries who were seriously injured in last year’s fighting. The announcement was . . .[restrict]made on Friday by Belgium’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Didier Reynders. He said that the move was the result of talks that with Libyan Foreign Minister Ashour Bin Khayal when he visited Libya on February 13 and of a project by Healthcare Belgium.
The seriously injured are to be treated in four hospitals: UCL Woluwe, Brussels University Hospital, the Clinic of Europe and CHIREC Group. The fighters’ stay will be organised by the group Healthcare Belgium in collaboration with the Libyan authorities.
According to a Belgian foreign ministry statement, all the necessary details regarding financial costs, immigration and healthcare have been dealt with.
The ministry said that the treatment programme reflected Begium’s desire to contribute to the stabilisation and reconstruction of Libya. It would also demonstrate the quality and effectiveness of Belgian medical services and “possibly establish a long-term cooperation in this field”.
