Tripoli, 28 April:
A meeting was held in Tarhouna on Thursday to look into ways to increase security in the town.
The meeting . . .[restrict]was held in the presence of the heads of both the military and local councils as well as the deputy head of security affairs at the Homeland Security Department, the head of the justice affairs, heads of the national security and traffic licensing departments, the head of the municipal security forces and the commanders of the thuwar battalions in the town.
The attendees agreed at the meeting to develop a security programme. They plan form a joint force for rapid intervention in case of any security problem in the city.
Earlier this month, there was an attempt to kill the deputy head of Tarhouna Military Council, Colonel Abdullah Hussein, and a colleague, Colonel Salim Souissi. On 15 April they were shot at near the town in what appeared to be a deliberate ambush. They were on their way back from a meeting in Misrata. [/restrict]
