Waddan, March 15: The Women’s Forum in the desert oasis town of Waddan organised a seminar entitled “Active Waddani women” on . . .[restrict]Tuesday to mark International Women’s Day. Papers presented at the seminar focussed on the need for women to participate actively in the political dveelopments currently taking place in Libya and thereby ensure their political, economic, social and cultural rights.
The seminar also stressed the drought situation in the area that has being ongoing for the last 40 years and which women say affected them powerfully because the previous regime deliberately discriminated against women, blurring their role and making them inferior.
The seminar called on women of Waddan to overcome all the obstacles that have limited their roles and aspirations and find their place in the February 17 Revolution. [/restrict]
