A new United Tripoli Revolutionary Brigade was launched in Tuesday. The new organisation brings together the various brigades based in the . . .[restrict]capital and follows a similar move in Benghazi.
Misrata announced that it brigades would merge into a single unit earlier this month.
Attending the Tripoli launch at the city’s Radisson Mehari Hotel were Deputy Prime Minister Mustafa Abu Shagur and Libya’s Grand Mufti, Sheikh Sadik Al-Ghariani.
The decision to unite the Tripoli brigades follows last week’s conference in Misrata involving the NTC, local councils and brigades across the country which drew up an agreement ordering brigades to return home and hand over everything they controlled and held to the official authorities.
The Zintan and Misrata brigades still in Tripoli have said they will quit the city by Sunday. [/restrict]
