It has been reported that a pro-Qaddafi group have been arrested in Sirte. According to a reporter from TV station Libya . . .[restrict]Al-Hurrah (Free Libya), the group were using the internet to stir up violence.
The group were also said to be involved in the recent violence in Bani Walid. Exactly what they are supposed to have done was, however, not disclosed.
There are a number of pro-Qaddafi internet sites that appear to deliberately misinform the public about events in Libya. Once such site, for example, on Saturday claimed that the head of Tripoli Military Council, Abdul Hakim Belhaj, had been shot and killed. It was accompanied by an obviously fake photo of Belhaj with a gaping gunshot hole in his head.
The TV station also reported the arrest in Sirte of a man who had kidnapped a father of the front of his family prior to the town’s liberation. Quoting security committee sources in the town, it also said that a group of men had also been arrested with LD 35,000 on them, trying to buy weapons. [/restrict]
