A technical fault at the Tobruk steam plant for electricity and water desalination caused a powerful explosion on Saturday night which was heard in all parts of the city . According to a local journalist, officials at the plant ruled out sabotage . One of the engineers working the station explained to reporters that the explosion was caused by a technical failure due to the age of equipment, deteriorating equipment and poor maintenance for many years . The engineer criticized what he viewed as neglect and lack of follow-up on maintenance work by the General Electric Company, whether in Tripoli, the main branch in Beida or in Tobruk.
