Two security officials have been killed in separate incidents . . .[restrict]in the latest assassinations in Benghazi.
A member of the 1st Infantry Brigade, Adnan Ashour al-Rashidi, was shot last night near the Nowruz Beach Resort, beyond the Garyounis district. The 28-year-old, who lived in the Buatni district, died instantly in a hail of gunfire.
Another security official, Lutfi Al-Fituri, from the Criminal Investigation Department, was killed early this morning when gunmen shot him near Fuwaihat Police Station. Two other officials who were with him at the time, one of them a member of Saiqa Brigade, were also wounded in the attack. Neither have been named.
In a separate attack, another Saiqa member, Ahmed Idris Al-Barghathi, was seriously injured yesterday when gunmen fired at him at the Findig Al-Baladiya vegetable market in the downtown area. He is now reported to be in a stable condition after doctors removed three bullets from his body.
In another incident, explosive experts dismantled a bomb in a car parked near a school in Fuwaihat district.
Also this morning, the police discovered the decomposing body of a man in Gaminis, some 50 kilometres south of Benghazi. The body was taken to Benghazi Medical centre where, so far, officials have been unable to identify it. [/restrict]
