Tripoli, 1 November:
Cargo vessel ‘Gazalle’ has set sail on . . .[restrict]the inaugural Europe to Libya voyage for Med Cross Lines.
The vessel departed from Venice on 29 October and from Koper, Slovenia, on 31 October. Loris Trevisan, chairman of Med Cross lines said: “The ship loaded containerised cargo, trailers, cars and trucks, as well as timber products in bundles, showing her versatility.”
The vessel is due to arrive at Benghazi on Sunday. The four-day voyage is understood to be the fastest cargo route between Europe and Eastern Libya. After leaving Benghazi the Gazalle will make further port calls at Misrata and Tripoli.
The new Italian-headquartered shipping company offers direct services between Libya and Europe and is already working to put a second vessel into service. The next departure is scheduled from Koper on 13 November and Venice on 14 November. [/restrict]
