Gharyan says it needs more than LD 1.5 billion to pay for development projects. There . . .[restrict]are 300 of them according to the chairman of the town’s development projects committee, Nureddine Abu Kanisha. They cover some 15 sectors, he said, although most involve housing and utilities. These account for 70 percent of the development plans.
The other sectors are education (12 percent of total planned budget) and healthcare (7 percent). The remaining 11 percent of the budget target covers miscellaneous fields.
Abu Kanisha indicated that toreign companies would be involved in implementing many of the projects.
In a related development, a panel to advise on the Gharyan’s reconstruction and development has been approved by the Municipal Council’s General Advisory and Implementation Committee.
According to Fathi Al-Suni, a member of the committee, the panel is the 25th to be set up covering different responsibilities and services for the town. A 26th is planned, but he did not say what its remit would be.
Meanwhile, on a smaller scale, Libya Telecom is installing new antennas to in the Gharyan area to extend cover Wi-Max internet cover. Once up and running, it should mean that the district will have 90-percent coverage. [/restrict]
