Four Libyan students have been awarded with the UK’s prestigious Chevening scholarship at a ceremony . . .[restrict]given by the British embassy currently based in Tunis.
The scholarship is usually granted to outstanding scholars with leadership potential for a one-year Master’s Degree in any subject and at any of the UK’s leading universities. This year’s winners, one of whom hails from Benghazi and three from Tripoli, will study International Management & Business, Economics, International Development and Telecommunications and Networking starting in October.
“Chevening Scholarships are awarded to talented professionals who are potential future leaders, decision-makers and opinion formers. Building skill levels and capabilities is essential for the long-term success of Libya. The four students we have sent to the United Kingdom will soon bring their expertise back home to contribute to the development of Libya,” said British Ambassador to Libya Michael Aron of the programme.
Chevening Scholarships are the UK government’s global scholarship programme, funded by its Foreign and Commonwealth Office. According to the British Embassy, there are now over 41,000 Chevening alumni around the world.
