Tripoli, 15 April 2014:
A female Libyan employee at the US embassy in Tripoli who was abducted last night . . .[restrict]escaped from her captors and found her way to a hospital today.
“We had reports that one of our locally-hired employees was abducted last night, during off-duty hours,” a spokesperson for the US embassy told the Libya Herald. “It is our understanding that she was able to escape and is now recovering.”
Reports circulating on social media networks suggested the woman had gunshot wounds to the leg.
It is unclear what the motive behind the incident was. [/restrict]
