The Fezzan town of Umm Aranib, 130 kilometres south of Sebha, has honoured members of its . . .[restrict]local guard and cooperative security room for their commitment to duty.
Mohammed Omar, Head of the Umm Aranib Guards, told the Libya Herald that the ceremony, which took place in the guards’ headquarters, celebrated twenty individuals for their outstanding dedication, which included the destruction of some forty crates of alcohol.
Even though the town’s security forces were celebrating, Omar said that the guards were in need of vehicles, clothes and weapons from the government. They currently have only one car to meet the needs of Umm Aranib and the surrounding villages of Imessa, Zweela and Majdoul, which also lie under their jurisdiction. [/restrict]
