Tripoli, March 30: Libya’s Preventive Security Service is to come under the control of the Libyan Intelligence Service headed by Salem . . .[restrict]Al-Hassi.
The interim government approved the move last week.
The Preventive Security Service was formed during the early months of the 17 February Revolution in a number of the liberated cities in order to monitor Qaddafi loyalists and ensure they did not carry out any attacks.
The Intelligence Service was formed in early February, to replace the Qaddafi regime’s defunct General Intelligence Service.
Staff of the Preventive Security Services, both civilian and military, have said that they will continue to work to protect citizens and respect human rights to enhance people’s freedom and dignity, adding that the main objective of the establishing the Preventive Security Services is to work and protect the security of the country.
