Libya Shield brigade arrests group with rockets

Tripoli, 18 June 2013:

The Libya Shield Brigade No 4, operating in Gharian, said today that it . . .[restrict]had arrested a group in possession of 34 rockets. LANA news agency quoted Abduljalil Hafayedh for the brigade saying that the rockets consisted of surface-to-surface missiles of a range of 200 kilometres.

“The missiles were brought from the south of Libya in three long, big trucks. They were entering the southern gate of Gharian of Fawar Ghani after Isha Prayer when Libya Shield Battalion Number 4 stopped them,” local Gharian reporter Zakariya Kraiem told the Libya Herald. The tucks had the sign “Combatting Crime Unit of Zintan” written on it, Kraiem said.

The group, said to number five, were transferrred to the military police in Gharian for investigation and were charged with the illegal possession of weapons, Kraiem added.
