Libya Build 2013, slated to be the biggest ever exhibition in Libya occupying six large halls at the new site of Tripoli Sports City is only three days away from opening. The Libya Herald visited the site today for an update
Yuksel Senem General Manager of Troy Expo, the organizers of the Turkish pavilions at Libya Build 2013 was on top of a ladder fixing a stand at the Turkish pavilion when the Libya Herald approached him.
100 Turkish companies exhibiting
Senem confirmed that there are just over 100 Turkish companies exhibiting and over 25 companies on the waiting list.
Exhibitors include companies in the doors, windows, construction and construction machinery, interior décor and ceramics sectors. Senem said that the companies were from all over Turkey.
Asked if there were any last minute cancellations, Senem said there were none up to today and that he was not expecting any. On the contrary, he said that his problem was trying to placate the 25 or so Turkish companies on the waiting list who could not get a stand at the exhibition.
Senem said that there will also be three export specialists from the Turkish Ministry of Economy, a business delegation of 18 companies representing a leading Turkish business association as well as 35 other business visitors that will be visiting the exhibition.
Logistics
Senem assured the Libya Herald, and praised the organisers, that there were no logistic problems as far as his pavilion was concerned. “All our goods were out of the ports early and we hope to finish the stands one day before the show starts”, Senem assured.
There were complaints for example at the Agricultural show covered by the Libya Herald last week of exhibitor’s containers being stuck at customs.
“This is the biggest show, a record for Libya”, Senem said. “The number of Turkish companies coming to Libya could have been more if it were not for the exhibiting space selling out”, he concluded.
The confidence was shared by the organizers. Tonio Casapinta, a consultant for the main contractors of the show, Pan Libya, was looking forward to the show. Pan Libya is a joint venture between Libyan company ATEX and Maltese company Casapinta.
“The private sector in Libya is ready to go and is the motor of the economy and Libya. Libya Build is the proof. We are on schedule”, Casapinta assured the Libya Herald amidst all the activity of hundreds of workers finishing stands in the six indoor halls, the outdoor space.
He noted that this edition of the exhibition is “much better organised. Having all the exhibitors practically in one big hall makes it easier for both exhibitors and visitors”, he concluded. [/restrict]
