It seems that not all foreigners considered Libya an unsafe place to be during the 17th . . .[restrict]February celebration period.
Amongst the hundreds of thousands hitting the streets of Tripoli over the anniversary weekend was none other than the British Ambassador Michael Aron.
Ambassador Aron was snapped by numerous passers-by and his photo was, unsurprisingly in this day and age, posted and shared many a times over on Facebook.
A photograph was also posted of him eating the traditional Libyan dish bazeen.
Bazeen is a dish that is made out of whole meal flour and a savory sauce and has to be eaten by hand whilst sitting on the ground.
This photo invoked many a tongue-in-cheek comment on Facebook in view of the sad fact that the last ambassador whose photo appeared on Facebook eating bazeen was the late US Ambassador Chris Stevens.
Libya’s second anniversary celebrations of the 17th February, an occasion celebrating democracy, self determination and freedom would be a great occasion to pay tribute to Ambassador Stevens. He was a friend of Benghazi and a friend of all the Libyan people.
His efforts, the efforts of the United States government and the efforts of all of Libya’s friends and friendly nations during the Revolution were instrumental in the success of the 17th February Revolution.
