The National Development Agency (NDA) announced yesterday the signing in Benghazi of a contract for the implementation of the ‘‘National Food Sovereignty Project – 1,000 Centre Pivot Irrigation Circuits’’. The signing, under the banner ”Towards sustainable food sufficiency”, was in the presence of several international partners and representatives of the implementing companies, (Farm Tech, Valley, New Holland, Global Grain Solution and Expert Farmer) as well as representatives from AmCham Libya and the US Embassy.
Enhancing food security
The project aims to establish modern centre pivot irrigation systems covering vast agricultural areas, contributing to increased agricultural production and improved water resource efficiency, in line with the Libya’s efforts to enhance food security.
The NDA reported that following the reception ceremony, its Director General, Mahmoud Al-Farjani, held a meeting with representatives of FarmTech and its partners, in addition to the relevant departments within the agency, to follow up on implementation arrangements and ensure the project’s launch according to the approved technical standards.
The NDA said this project reflects its orientation towards implementing strategic projects with a direct impact, while enhancing international cooperation and utilizing modern expertise and technologies to support sustainable development paths in Libya.
