Economy Ministry prohibits export of all types of fish for three months

Economy Minister Hwej reviews his ministry’s implementation of its 2023 plan and issues several directives

The Tripoli based Libyan Minister of Economy and Trade, Suhail Abu Shiha, issued a decision yesterday to prohibit the export and re-export of fish of all kinds and forms.

This included molluscs, crustaceans, and coral reefs in all their forms, whether alive or dead, or parts thereof, or products or derivatives extracted from them, by any means of transport, shipping, or transit trade, for a period of three months.

Commenting on the decision, the Libyan Export Development Authority (LEDA) said the objective of the decision is to regulate Libyan exports of fisheries, protect the local market, and ensure self-sufficiency.‎

‎In parallel with this, the LEDA said it has embarked on the implementation of strategic projects by implemented by Libyan cadres:‎
