Libya’s agricultural sector is moving from planning to execution: Ahmed Ghazali at the Paris Libya-France Business Forum 2026

During the “Promoting Food Sovereignty” panel of the Libya France Business Forum held in Paris on 16 April, organised by Business France and the National Development Agency (NDA), Ahmed Al-Ghazali emphasised the fact that Libya’s agricultural sector is gaining momentum, underscoring growing cooperation between Libya and France. He said this progress is aligned with the NDA’s Vision 2030.

Al-Ghazali, speaking exclusively to Libya Herald from Paris, is Chairman of Al-Fath Company for Importing Agricultural Supplies, the exclusive agent of the American New Holland Company and Valley Valmont in Libya (and the Vice President of the American Chamber of Commerce in Libya – AmCham).

The discussion, he explained, reflected a clear shift: Libya is moving from planning to execution. Agriculture is emerging as a practical driver of food security and economic diversification.

French engagement—bringing technology, expertise, and investment—combined with strong local partners, is creating real opportunities across irrigation, mechanisation, and Agri-tech, he further explained.

“Libya today is not a market of potential—it is a market of execution, with real alignment between national vision and international partnership. While challenges remain, the direction is clear. The focus now is on delivery—and on building the right partnerships to achieve it’’, Ghazali said.

The forum cantered on showcasing ready-to-execute projects across vital sectors and how French companies can participate in these.

It will be noted that part one of the Libya France Business Forum was held in Marseille on 14 April.
