Newly created Libyan United Airlines reveals logo – stresses it is a privately owned airline

Libyan United Airlines (LUA).

The logo of the soon-to-be launched Libyan United Airlines (LUA) has been officially revealed by the carrier on its equally new social media sites.

The company has posted little information besides noting, however, that it is ‘‘a newly established, privately owned airline.’’

Former Airbus employee and CEO at Wings Airlines and Crown Airlines, Ziad Farhoud, has been appointed as LUA’s CEO.

Posting on his social media site, Farhoud has said (LUA) is a ‘‘new carrier dedicated to connecting Libya with the wider region and the world.

Libya and Turkey discuss increasing flights, including to Sebha

Our vision is to establish Libyan United Airlines (LUA) as Libya’s premier airline, offering not just flights, but a curated travel experience designed with the passenger in mind. From our hub in Tripoli, we will connect travellers to key destinations across North Africa, the Middle East, and beyond, combining modern service standards with the warmth and hospitality that define Libya.

Central to our mission is curating the passenger experience – crafting every journey to be seamless, comfortable, and unforgettable. From booking to arrival, every touchpoint will deliver reliability, convenience, and a distinctly Libyan sense of welcome.

As we embark on this exciting journey, I am looking to my network for support, guidance, and collaboration to help make Libyan United Airlines a success. Together, we can shape a new era of air travel for Libya and the region”.

Background
It will be recalled that the Tripoli based Libyan government reported that in a meeting held on 2 December 2025, the Tripoli based Libyan Prime Minister, Abd Alhamid Aldabaiba, followed up on the launch of a new airline aimed at addressing the current airline situation.

The meeting was attended by Minister of Transport Mohamed Al-Shahoubi, Minister of State for Communication and Political Affairs Walid Al-Lafi, Chairman of the Executive Team for President’s Initiatives and Strategic Projects Mustafa Al-Mana, and Chairman of Afriqiyah Airways Ahmed Al-Amin.

During the meeting, it was stressed that the launch of the new company comes within the framework of an advanced investment vision aimed at improving the competitiveness of the sector at the global level, in line with the government’s plan to develop airports in different cities.

During the meeting, the need to take additional steps to develop the local aviation sector was also stressed.

No further details about the new airliner were revealed at the time.
