There were 928,839 migrants identified in Libya by the IOM Libya’s DTM Round 59 covering August to October 2025. These migrants were across 663 assessed communities.
There were migrants from 44 different nationalities with 66 percent originating from the MENA region. The top nationalities were Sudan (36 %), Egypt (20%), Niger (19%), Chad (9%) and Nigeria (3%).
52 percent of migrants were identified in Western Libya, 37 % were in the East and 11 were in the South.
78 percent of male migrants reported that they were employed while only 42 percent of female migrants reported having employment.
The average cost of the journey to get to Libya for those of Asian origin was US$ 2,813, for those from the Middle East US$ 1,679, from North Africa it was US$ 676 and from Sub-Saharan Africa it was US$ 587.
The IOM also reported that:
2025 -27,116 migrants were intercepted and returned to Libya – 1,314 deaths / missing
2024 – 21,762 migrants were intercepted and returned to Libya – 665 deaths – 1,034 missing
2023 – 17,190 migrants were intercepted and returned to Libya – 962 deaths – 1,536 missing
