A high-level Libyan delegation and U.S. officials from Congress, the administration, and think tanks hold roundtable discussion in DC

(GNU).

A high-level Libyan delegation currently visiting Washington DC and U.S. officials from Congress, the administration, and think tanks, held a roundtable discussion in DC last Wednesday (19 November) titled “New Horizons for Libyan American Relations”. The event was hosted by the Atlantic Council in Washington, D.C. and co-organized with the National Economic and Social Development Board (NESDB).

The event, reported by the Tripoli based Libyan government last Thursday (20 November), aims to strengthen political, economic, and security cooperation between the two countries.

Among the participants were Mahmoud Al-Futaisi, Director General of the NESDB, and Khaled Al-Mabrouk, Minister of Finance, along with officials from the Ministries of Finance and Foreign Affairs. Mohammed Takala, President of the High State Council, participated remotely via Zoom.

The roundtable addressed three main themes:

The delegation affirmed the Libyan government’s commitment to strengthening governance and transparency and working to develop a comprehensive strategic partnership with the United States, contributing to stability and opening new avenues for cooperation between the two countries and the region.
