The Libyan Customs Authority reported today that a task force at its Mitiga Airport Customs Centre, in coordination with the Internal Security Agency, foiled an attempt yesterday to smuggle €1,194,900 to Istanbul through Libyan Airlines.
It reported that three Libyan women were caught concealing the money inside their bodies and were searched by female security officers in the presence of Customs officials.
The funds, the Customs Authority continued, were recovered, legal action was taken, and the Customs Authority said it reaffirms its commitment to protecting the national economy and combating smuggling. It praised the cooperation with the security agencies.
