Jordanian Civil Aviation delegation inspects Tripoli’s Mitiga airport with view to resuming direct flights

A Royal Jordanian plane arrived at Tripoli’s Mitiga Airport yesterday carrying a team from the Jordanian Civil Aviation Regulatory Commission on a field visit to the airport, Libya’s Transport Ministry confirmed.

The Ministry said the team will audit and review the airport’s equipment and procedures and the extent of their compliance with standard procedures and to determine the procedures followed in the process of operating the airport and the extent of their compliance with internationally recognized requirements.

The team, the Ministry confirmed, will decide the possibility of operating a direct air route between Libya and Jordan via Royal Jordanian Aviation.‎

‎The visit included a tour of the corridors of the new passenger terminal and the currently used terminal, and an expanded meeting was held at the airport management headquarters to discuss the operational procedures, security and safety measures followed at the airport, which included the Libyan team from the Civil Aviation Authority and the Airports Authority corresponding to the Jordanian delegation, as well as a parallel meeting with handling companies and ground services operating at Mitiga Airport.‎
