The World of Bees Company (Irbid Apiaries), and the Natural Food Company (Rafie’s Apiaries), obtained advanced rankings in the Paris Honey Awards 2023 competition to determine the best quality of honey in the world.

The Bee World Company obtained two gold medals for the product of Al-Atl and Sidr honey for the international quality of honey, and the Natural Lunch Company won first place with a gold medal for thyme honey.

Libyan honey wins award in London too
The Libya Export Promotion Centre highlighted the fact that LEPC the Natural Food Company and Al-Naqaa Honey Company obtained last year the Golden London Award for honey quality.

Speaking exclusively to Libya Herald, Mohamed Al-Belaili, Director of the Media Office at the LEPC, said that there are several Libyan companies that have previously won international awards in the production of honey and olive oil from Greece, Japan, the Emirates and France. He said the LEPC has a supportive role in facilitating the participations that take place with direct individual initiatives from Libyan producers registered in the Exporters Register at the Centre.

LEPC facilitates participation in international competitions
Al-Belaili pointed out that LEPC facilitated the procedures for participating in international competitions and exhibitions for all Libyan exporting companies by communicating with the competent authorities in the organizing countries and their embassies in Libya to easily obtain entry visas and without complication in accordance with the agreements organizing these participations.

He emphasised that local legislation encouraging the export of local products and the regulations governing the work of LEPC make it imperative for LEPEC to support and encourage local producers to participate in international economic events, specialized exhibitions, and competitions.

He added that several Libyan honey and olive oil producers have previously participated in specialized exhibitions in Greece, Turkey, the Emirates, Tunisia, Algeria, France and Japan, winning several valuable prizes and obtaining advanced ranks.

Local producers need protection
As for the adequacy of the locally produced natural honey, Al-Belaili said that the local producers confirm their ability to increase production to cover the needs of the local market, provided that the internal production is protected from honey imported from abroad, a large part of which is considered manufactured and not natural.
