In the presence of the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Omran Al-Qeeb, the Minister of Oil and Gas, Mohamed Aoun, the President of the University of Tripoli, Khaled Aoun, the Dean of the College of Engineering, faculty members of the College of Engineering and the Department of Petroleum Engineering, and the top graduates and various guests, Tripoli University reopened the Department of Oil Engineering on Saturday.

The department had undergone renovation, development, and provision of advanced oil equipment and devices. The maintenance operations for its facilities included the renovation of its entire offices, maintenance of its lecture halls and its entrances, as well as the creation of an electronic reading study library.

In an exclusive statement to Libya Herald, Hatem Al-Gailushi, the Media Coordinator of the Ministry of Higher Education, said that the reopening of the Oil Engineering Department came after the Ministry’s commitment to providing training equipment that had not been updated, refurbished, or developed for 50 years ago.

Adding that the participation of the Minister of Higher Education in the reopening of this department is important for all Libyans because it is directly linked to the source of income of the Libyan state and the sense of responsibility for developing and modernizing academic departments in all colleges and universities, especially the Oil Engineering Department, which has suffered from neglect for many years.

As for the participation of the Minister of Oil on this occasion, Al-Gailushi confirmed that it came to confirm the support of the government for educational institutions and to support a basic pillar of education in the oil industry in Libya and the basic nucleus for graduating engineers and academics specialized in the field of oil.
