The Bina Programme visited the Gharian University Incubator last Wednesday to assess the incubator’s training needs for the forthcoming Start Up project.

‘‘BINA Program’’ describes itself as an International Development Program that aims to build the human and economic capacity of fragile communities, to accomplish resilience and prosperity.

It says it is a joint initiative of the Libyan Programme for Reintegration and Development (LPRD), the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) and the Statistical, Economic and Social Research and Training Centre for Islamic Countries (SERSIC).

The LPRD was formerly known as the Warriors Affairs Commission (WAC) created to demobilization, disarm and reintegrate (DDR) former Libyan militias into civil society.

The visit comes within the framework of the “Libya Start-Up” project agreement signed between French NGO, Supernova, and Bina to support the Gharian University Incubator.

Bina said the exploratory field visit aimed to assess the needs of the incubator headquarters and to identify difficulties and challenges they may face and ways of cooperation.

The needs include developing and equipping the Gharian University Incubator and training 25 faculty members to become entrepreneurship advisors and mentors. The project also aims to launch competitions for young entrepreneurs in the university and the region to be trained, incubated, and guided to develop their projects and then network them to obtain financing.

Speaking exclusively to Libya Herald, Projects Manager of the Bina Libya Program, Ghada Arhouma, revealed that a competition will be launched in the Western (Nafousa) Mountain region to rehabilitate a number of projects and train and rehabilitate its owners and those who have been looking for financing so that they can start entering the market and compete strongly.

The Libya Start-up project is a project that supports the Libyan entrepreneurial environment through training and guidance, in addition to strengthening the capabilities of entrepreneurs in Libya. It is funded by the European Union in Libya and is being implemented by Supernova in partnership with Spark.
