The Director of the American Chamber of Commerce in Libya (AmCham Libya), Debbie Hirst, and Deputy Director Ahmed Al-Ghazali, met the Chairman of the General Electricity Company of Libya (GECOL), Mohamed Al-Mashay, on Saturday at GECOL’s Tripoli headquarters.

The meeting comes within the framework of joint cooperation between GECOL and the leading American companies in the field of electric generation.

During the meeting, ways to build a bridge of communication and raise cooperation with American companies were discussed in order to contribute to the stability of the Libyan network and raise its production capacity.

On the side lines of the meeting, the two sides discussed the possibility of returning the services of American companies in the field of energy in Libya, similar to German and Turkish companies, in order to benefit from the experience of American companies in the field of alternative energy.

The possibility of the return of American companies with their capabilities in order to improve the electricity situation in Libya – in the short term – was also discussed.
