Libya seeks aviation training, sector study, reopening of embassy for visas and MoU from Spain

Libya’s Deputy Minister of Transport, in charge of Aviation and Air Transport Affairs, Hisham Abu Shkewat, met Spanish ambassador to Libya, Javier Garcia-Larrache and his embassy team at the Ministry in Tripoli yesterday.

The meeting was a follow-up on the visits that the Libyan Airport Authority made to companies and bodies in Spain January this year.

The visits to Spain, the Ministry reported, were for the Libyan side to get acquainted with the manufacturers and companies in the field with the aim of contributing to the development and rehabilitation of Libyan airports and raising the efficiency of the cadres of the Airports Authority.

During this meeting, cooperation in the field of radar coverage and air navigation as well as cooperation in the field of ports and maritime transport, were discussed.

The facilitation of the procedures of commercial aviation students as soon as their budget was liquidated and the resumption of their studies, and the procedures carried out by the Ministry regarding the study of the comprehensive transport scheme in Libya, which were awarded to the Spanish company ‘‘Gettinza’’, were also discussed during the meeting.

Reopen embassy for visas, prepare MoU

The Deputy Minister urged the Ambassador of Spain to open the Spanish embassy in Libya in order to enhance joint cooperation and to facilitate procedures for citizens’ visas and to consolidate relations between the two countries, and at the end of the meeting, it was agreed between the two parties to prepare a memorandum of understanding with what was discussed and agreed upon.

The expanded meeting also included the head of Libya’s Civil Aviation Authority, the head of the Airports Authority, the head of the Department of Ports and Maritime Transport, the head of Land Transport Authority / Chairman of the Committee for the Comprehensive Transport Plan in Libya and Director of the Technical Cooperation Office.
