London, 16 November 2020:
After a near two-year hiatus, Turkish air cargo company, MNG, resumed its service to Misrata airport, the airport authority reported yesterday.
The service reinforces Turkey’s position as the go-to country by Libyans for goods and services. The absence of a cargo service had not prevented trade between the two countries with couriers shipping goods onboard the Mitiga-Istanbul passenger service since flights resumes in August through Mitiga airport.
Misrata airport, it will be recalled, is closed for passenger flights after a fire destroyed its passenger terminal in August.
It will also be recalled that flights to Tunisia resumed from Mitiga yesterday after an eight-month stop due to the Coronavirus.
