London, 28 August 2019:

The internationally-recognized Prime Minister of Libya, Faiez Serraj met with newly installed U.S. Ambassador to Libya Richard Norland and the new Commander of U.S. Africa Command, General Stephen Townsend in Tunis on Monday.

The U.S. side reported that the meeting focused on the security environment in Libya, the importance of addressing the existing violent extremist organizations threat, and the need to resolve the current conflict through political negotiation.

It also said that Ambassador Norland and General Townsend reaffirmed United States support of a political settlement to the crisis and the need to promote stability and shared prosperity in Libya.
