Tunis, 28 July 2017:

The Benghazi-hearquartered Al-Ejmaa Al-Arabi Bank (Arab Union Bank) opened a new branch yesterday in Tripoli. It is at Busetta, near the navy headquarters.

“The opening of this branch is a step to facilitate the access of banking services to citizens, through the services provided by the bank to its customers regardless of whether they are private citizens, companies and public institutions,” said Ali Nasr Al-Rugai, the bank’s general manager.

The bank, which was established in 2003, already has 21 branches throughout the country.

Yesterday’s opening was part of an expansion programme, Rugai said. It has already included the opening of a business centre in Hay Andalus and the creation of an administrative team to oversee the set-up of an Islamic banking venture. It is based in east Tripoli’s Sabaa district. There were plans for other branches, he indicated.

Noting the difficulties faced by customers of any bank at present to withdraw funds, he asked people to be patient.
