The Libyan Customs Authority announced yesterday that it has signed a cooperation agreement with its Algerian counterpart.
This followed the conclusion of the proceedings of the Joint Libyan-Algerian Customs Committee meeting.
The Customs Authority said the signing of the Joint Committee's meeting minutes reflects the depth of fraternal relations and the commitment of both nations to strengthening joint customs cooperation.
The signing followed discussions and a review of the implementation of recommendations from the previous Joint Libyan-Algerian Customs Committee meeting held in Algiers on December 23, 2024.
The meeting addressed several key issues of mutual interest, most notably:
▪️ Activating the mutual administrative cooperation agreement between the two sides.
▪️ Assessing the movement of goods and means of transport between the two countries.
▪️ Enhancing cooperation in combating smuggling and various forms of transnational organized crime.
▪️ Cooperating in education, training, and the exchange of expertise to develop customs capabilities and professional competencies.
▪️ Discussing emerging matters and issues of mutual interest.
This meeting, the Libyan Customs Authority added, reaffirms the ongoing cooperation and coordination between the Libyan Customs Authority and the Algerian General Directorate of Customs, as well as their commitment to developing joint operational mechanisms that serve mutual interests, enhance border crossing security, and protect the national economies of both countries.
